Our fifth graders jut finished an awesome lesson that focused on Commercial Art. They designed their own logos and slogans for their own pizza company and then painted them on real boxes. Marco's Pizza donated the boxes and a generous percentage of any sales that were made from our school and our fifth graders could order a pizza in their own box. How cool! Thanks Marco's!
Congratulations to our students who had artwork at our fifth annual Fine Arts Festival at Freeman High School! Thank you for coming out to the show. What a beautiful weekend full of art! Check out our display of Carver student’s artwork at the fifth annual Fine Arts Festival at Freeman Highschool! It is open to the public Saturday and Sunday from 10-4.
What Inspires you??Students in grades K-12 are invited to take part in the 2018 Doodle 4 Google contest, and create an uplifting doodle that tells the world “What inspires me.” From crayons to clay, graphic design, or even food, young artists can utilize any materials to bring their creation to life. Like all Google Doodles, each doodle must incorporate the letters G-o-o-g-l-e. One national winner will receive a $30,000 college scholarship, a $50,000 technology package for their school/non-profit organization, and a behind-the-scenes experience with the Doodle team to transform their Doodle into an interactive experience on Google.com. The contest is open for entries from January 8th – March 2nd, 2018 – only 8 short weeks! Go here for more information!

www.visarts.org/classes-camps/youth-classes/artventure-summer-camp/ Get creative with the Virginia Lottery's inaugural Thank a Teacher Art Contest!
Each year, we encourage students, parents and the general public to send thank-you notes to Virginia’s deserving public school teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. In its first two years, Virginians distributed more than 70,000 thank-you notes as part of the Thank a Teacher campaign. This year, we’re looking for three student artists to have their artwork featured on thousands of thank-you notes distributed across the state as part of our inaugural Thank a Teacher Art Contest. The contest is open to K-12 public school students, and one top-prize winner will be selected from each level: elementary school, middle school and high school. The three winners will not only get to see their artwork featured on the 2018 thank-you notes, they’ll also receive individual cash prizes and win money for their school’s art department. Parents and students,
