What a weekend! Thanks to everyone who came out to Hermitage HS this weekend to celebrate the arts! I had a great time visiting with current and old students. Congratulations to all students who had work up in our display. Wonderful job to Takeena and Sean for having their artwork framed and displayed at Central Office. Takeena's hing during the 2013-2014 school year and Sean's cat will hang this year on the first floor. I'm so excited to get to show off Laburnum Elementary talent at Central Office this month. Artwork ranges from kindergarten through fifth grade made from all mediums. The show will be up until April 30th. The other night at dinner I got talking to the restaurant manager who asked me what I did for a living. When I told him how I was an Elementary Art Teacher he asked me what kind of projects I do with the kids. I told him that we do a little bit of everything. Today was the perfect example of that. We drew, painted. sculpted and recycled today. Third grade students created their ceramic columns tying into Greek architecture studies and some of my 5th graders finished using plaster wrap to make their own piggy banks. We started to make Egyptian cats out of paper towel tubes in 2nd grade and learned about Sslvador Dali in first grade. Everyday is exciting in the elementary art room! |
